INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMS TO COMPETITIVE SWIMMING
INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMS TO COMPETITIVE SWIMMING
The Puddle Jumpers (ages 6-11) and Torrents (ages 12+) are introductory programs that will introduce the sport of competivie swimming to interested athletes. Participants need to have completed Level 3 of the swim lessons at Zatzman, Level 4 at Cole Harbour Place or be in YMCA "Swimmer"; to be ready for the Introdution program. This translates into being able to swim continously a length of the pool on their front, swim a length on their back, kick a lenth with a kick board; jump in off the side and exhale under water (blow bubbles) and be ready to try new things along with listening to instruction.
Each Introductory Session will run for 8 weeks. The next sessions start the week of January 6, 2025 and then the week of March 17, 2025.
Puddle Jumpers will train: Saturdays 5:00-6:00pm and Sundays 1:00-2:00pm
Torrents will train: Thursdays 7:30pm-8:30pm and Sundays 1:00-2:00pm
Program Costs: $178.00 + $112.00 Swim NS Fee = $290.00
(*Swim NS fee is non-refundable after program launches). Full payment will be required at time of registration.
The swimmer will attend the first training session and be assessed by the coach(es) to see if they are ready for the program. If yes, then an email link will be sent to the parents for the online registration.
Please DO NOT register before attending the first training session. All swimmers will need to bring goggles, a water bottle and towel to their first training session. Once registered, swim caps will be required at all training sessions.
If your athlete is able to attend the above training times for their age group, fulfills the swimming skills prerequisites and is interested in attending our Introductory Program, please email coleharbourhurricanesinfo@gmail.com.
After the introductory session is over, the swimmer is able to continue on in our regular Winter MTC program (for those that start in January, the athlete will be registered into the regular program and a prorated fee that will cover the cost to the remainder of the season (mid-May), will need to be paid ($192.00 + $150 Family Fundraising Fee that can be earned by particpating in Fundraising events). The swimmer will be assessed on the last day of the program to determine which training group they will be placed in for our regular training sessions (this could also mean a difference in training days & times).
